EARs May Hold Key to Predicting Heart Attack

It’s no secret that heart disease is a leading cause of death in the United States. But did you know that one of the most reliable predictors of a heart attack may be as easy as looking in the mirror?

Recent research has found that the size of your waistline may be a better predictor of a heart attack than other traditional risk factors, such as high cholesterol or high blood pressure. Waist circumference is a measure of abdominal fat, which is known to increase the risk of heart disease.

The study, which was conducted by researchers at the University of Oxford, looked at data from over 500,000 people in 10 countries. They found that people with larger waistlines had a significantly higher risk of having a heart attack than those with smaller waists. The risk was even higher for those with a waist circumference greater than 40 inches for men and 35 inches for women.

Fortunately, there are steps you can take to reduce your risk of a heart attack. Eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and maintaining a healthy weight are all important steps to take. Additionally, it’s important to talk to your doctor about any other risk factors you may have and to get regular check-ups.

Ultimately, it’s important to remember that your waistline is an important predictor of heart attack risk. So take a few moments to look in the mirror and make sure you’re taking steps to keep your waistline in check. Doing so could help you avoid a potentially life-threatening heart attack.
